Because of our many years of experience here at tsd, we draw from a large pool of terminology resources in almost every field. To create individual, company-specific terminology databases, we use customer validated documents and extract terms in individual language combinations, align our existing data with the found terms and add new ones. Duplicates and words with multiple translations or meanings are traced back to a candidate term. When new documents are translated, existing terminology is automatically used and new words are added to the database. The consistent usage of validated terminology is guaranteed at tsd because we regularly align our databases.

The database can be used as a whole or in parts. According to selected criteria, it can be divided up into customer-specific, product-specific, usage-specific databases that can be accessed as a web-based application. Depending on need, this can be done by the users, i.e. the translators and editors, and also by staff in marketing and communications. For the translation process as well as for quality assurance, the terminology data is used to validate usage of field-specific terms and to ensure consistency in the terms used. This is possible because translated extracts are entered into the system and then compared to the database results.
