Sofreh with gifts

tsd and tesedi wish all people celebrating Nowruz a Happy New Year!

In many countries Nowruz is a public holiday, but even where it is not its traditions are becoming increasingly known. One of the most famous of these traditions is Haft Seen, which you can see laid out on the table, or Sofreh, on this blog’s picture. All items on the table start with an “S” and have great symbolic value. The apple (sib), for example, stands for health whereas the sprouts, Sabzi, are a symbol of rebirth.

No matter which items are displayed on your Sofreh, have a nice time celebrating Nowruz and welcoming spring.
