Klingon Part 3

Klingon was translated into a lot of languages, but the process of translation has often been prone to errors.

The translation into English was the best, because the grammar and the meaning of the translation is the most consistent.

Since Klingon is a pure fantasy language, it is not in general use. However, there are many conventions around the world, movie festivals, and role-playing games where the language is used.

Opinions vary somewhat as to the number of speakers. It is believed that there are approximately 20-30 people worldwide who actually speak Klingon fluently and it is estimated that more than 2,000 people have at least some basic knowledge.

So the next time when you hear a classic line from Star Trek, like “Beam me up, Scotty” – you might remember these posts about the Klingon language and its origin!
