Nikolaus

Yes, we Germans love Christmas time! And 6th December is another day we are all looking forward to! Before German kids go to bed on 5th December, they clean their boots and put them next to the front door. At night Nikolaus comes around and lays treats in the shoes of the good kids. In some places in Germany, Nikolaus actually comes and talks to the kids, asking if they were good or reciting a poem. His helper is called Knecht Ruprecht, who carries a rod and scolds the naughty Kids.
